Every month Northwest Access Fund spotlights organizations and resources that help specific populations we serve or provide information on timely topics. June’s Resource Roundup is highlighting Summer Food Programs. Find resources that can help kids stay fed this summer. Read on to learn more.
Summer EBT – Summer EBT (called SUN Bucks in Washington) is a grocery benefits program. It helps families buy food for their school-aged children when school is out. Each summer, families will get one payment of $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries. Most children are automatically enrolled in Summer EBT if they are receiving SNAP or TANF, but families can also apply if they have a low income and their child is not automatically enrolled. Summer EBT is not currently available in Idaho.
Free Summer Meals – Free Summer Meal sites are available across the country, providing free breakfast, lunch, and snacks to children ages 1 – 18 when school is out for the summer. Summer Meals are open to all families. No paperwork needed – kids can just drop in and grab a meal.
