Every month Northwest Access Fund spotlights organizations and resources that help specific populations we serve or provide information on timely topics. May’s Resource Roundup is highlighting state-specific and national Pet Resources. Find resources that can provide pet food and supplies and help with veterinary care. Read on to learn more.
National Resources
The Onyx and Breezy Foundation – The Onyx & Breezy Foundation provides funding and support to help pets reach tomorrow. They accept grant applications and consider funding medical treatment for animals where hardship is present, medication, pet food, and spay and neuter.
STARelief and Pet Assistance – The Home for Life grant program offers assistance with emergency medical care, emergency boarding/foster care, spay and neuter, routine medical care, and end-of-life services to those experiencing financial difficulty, including those on SSI or living with a disability.
Idaho Resources
Idaho Humane Society – The Idaho Humane Society’s Pet Food Pantry is a safety net program, designed to provide resources primarily to struggling pet owners and shelter animals. In order to help keep pets in their homes when their families are struggling financially, pet food assistance is available through a monthly distribution. The Pet Food Pantry can provide a household with food for up to four spayed and neutered animals for up to six months.
Food4TAILS – Food4TAILS Pet Food Pantry program assists families facing temporary hardship feed their pets.
Oregon Resources
Oregon Humane – Oregon Humane’s Financial Assistance Fund is dedicated to offering accessible veterinary care to you and your pets. They offer financial assistance to people accessing a wide variety of public benefits as well as those who are low-income.
PAW Team – PAW Team operates a Pet Food and Supply Bank open to the public. Their supply bank carries essentials like pet food, litter, over-the-counter flea control, and other accessories like leashes, coats, and toys. They also offer Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas County pet licenses at a discounted cost.
Washington Resources
Regional Animal Services of King County – Pets are family, but sometimes people run into situations where it is difficult or impossible to keep their furry family members. Regional Animal Services of King County has some tips and resources that may help you keep your pet, including a list of pet food banks and veterinary resources. This list includes resources across the Puget Sound, not just in King County.
Rainier Animal Fund – Rainier Animal Fund is working to ensure advanced veterinary care is accessible to Washington pets. They provide grants and care clinics for low-income and qualifying families and their pets, including those receiving disability benefits.
