Jeanine
Jeanine moved into senior housing in 2012 and began to take advantage of the complex’s frequent meetings and social events. She remembers that she was always asking people to repeat themselves, but she didn’t think much of it. When someone who worked at the housing building suggested that she get hearing aids in 2015, she went and had a hearing test.
Jeanine realized that she needed hearing aids, but she had no idea how expensive they were. Her first thought when she heard the estimate was, “Holy cow, I can’t afford that.” But Jeanine’s audiologist told her about Northwest Access Fund, and she was relieved to learn about the low-interest rate. She recalls thinking, “I mean 5% interest, I can’t believe it.”
Jeanine describes the loan application process as “so easy. It’s so easy to apply, and they’re so helpful.” She has even told her new audiologist about Northwest Access Fund, so that they can distribute the information to clients who need affordable financing options to purchase their hearing aids.
Jeanine applied for another loan for hearing aids in 2021. She describes her old hearing aids as “like a Model T Ford” in comparison to her new model, which connect with her iPhone. She loves that she can hear the phone ring directly in her ears and that she can listen to podcasts and music without anyone ever knowing.
